Privacy policy

In effect from November 4, 2026

Here you can see what information MAKEMEGO stores about you, why we do it, and what you can do about it.

What we store

  • Your e-mail, which you sign in with.
  • Your name and your profile photo, if you have chosen one.
  • Plans you make: who you invite, and the dates, times and places you choose between.
  • Your replies and votes on plans you are invited to.
  • Comments you write on a plan, and when you wrote them.
  • Your friends, friend requests and groups.
  • Places you save as favourites, and when you saved them.
  • Your own lists of places: the list’s name, which places are on it, and when you added them.
  • A push token for each phone where you have turned on notifications, so we can send you messages, and the phone’s language, so the message arrives in your language.
  • The notifications we send you: what they are about, and when they were sent.
  • Which kinds of notifications you have turned off under Notifications, and when you last changed that.
  • Who you have blocked, and when.
  • Reports you send about others: who the report is about, the reason, any text you write, and when you sent it.
  • Stars you give a place after a plan for food and drink, service and surroundings: how many in each, which plan and which place they belong to, and when you gave or changed them. No text is stored.
  • Suggestions you send us under "Suggest something": the text, and when you sent it.
  • Events you have asked to hear about when tickets go on sale, and when we sent the message.
  • If you split the bill on a plan: the amount, your MobilePay number, who is sharing it, and who has paid. If you share someone else’s bill: your share, and when you said you had paid. The payment itself happens in MobilePay; we see no account numbers and move no money.
  • If you have a login to our partner portal for a restaurant, a bar or another place: which place you act for, whether you are the owner or a colleague, and when the login was created. If you invite a colleague, we store their e-mail on the invitation, and that it was you who invited them.

We do not store your location or your contacts. If you add a plan to your calendar, that happens in the phone’s own calendar, which we cannot see.

Why we store it

So the app can do what you use it for: sign you in, show you to your friends, send invitations, collect replies and votes, and tell you when something happens with your plans, friends and groups. We need the information to provide the service you have asked for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).

We store blocks and reports to protect you and others from harassment, spam and fake profiles. We read the reports so we can do something about it. That is our legitimate interest in keeping MAKEMEGO safe (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Who can see what

  • Everyone signed in to MAKEMEGO can find you by your name and see your photo. They can also find you by your e-mail address, but only if they type the whole address. We never show your e-mail address to others.
  • The people you plan with see the plan, and who has replied and voted what.
  • Comments on a plan can only be seen by the host and the people invited, including those who have declined. The others on the plan who have not declined may get it as a notification.
  • Your groups can be seen by the people in them.
  • Your favourites can only be seen by you. Your lists can only be seen by you and the friends you share them with: they see the list’s name, the places on it, who added each place, and who else is on it.
  • If you are on someone else’s list, everyone on the list can see your name and your photo, and which places you have added.
  • If you share an invitation link to a plan, everyone who has the link and is signed in to MAKEMEGO can see your name and photo, the plan’s dates, times and places, and how many are going, until you stop the link, or the plan is cancelled or over. If someone uses the link, they join the plan as invited.
  • Who you have blocked can only be seen by you. The person you block is not told, but can no longer find you or send you friend requests. Groups and plans you are already in together are not changed.
  • Reports can only be read by the MAKEMEGO team, not by the person they are about. The person you report is not told that you reported them, or what you wrote. Your own reports are included when you download your data; reports others have sent about you are not.
  • How many stars you have given a place can only be seen by you. The place’s page and the place’s own statistics only show the average and count for food and drink, service and surroundings separately, and each only once at least three people have rated it.
  • Your suggestions can only be read by the MAKEMEGO team.
  • Which events you have asked to hear about can only be seen by you.
  • A bill on a plan, with the host’s MobilePay number, can only be seen by the host and the people sharing it. They see each other’s shares, and who has paid.

Where it is kept

Your information is kept by Supabase, which runs our database, sign-in and photos, on servers in the EU (Stockholm, Sweden). Sign-in codes are sent by e-mail through Supabase. The welcome e-mail and invitations to the partner portal are sent through SMTP2GO, which receives the recipient’s e-mail and name, the place’s name and the name of the person who invited them.

Notifications are sent through Expo’s push service and from there through Apple (iPhone) or Google (Android). They receive your phone’s push token and the text of the message, for example who has replied to a plan, the start of a comment, who wants to be friends with you, the name of a group you have been added to, or a list shared with you, and may process it outside the EU.

How long we keep it

Until you delete your account. Then we immediately delete your profile, your name and your photos, the plans you have made, your replies, votes and comments, your favourites and lists, your friendships and the groups you own. Plans others have made stay with them, but without you. Your lists also disappear for the people you shared them with, and you disappear from others’ lists; places you added to others’ lists stay on the list without your name.

A comment is deleted when you delete it, when the host deletes it, or when the plan is deleted.

A favourite is deleted when you tap the heart again.

A place disappears from a list when you remove it, and a list is deleted when you delete it.

A block is deleted when you remove it under Friends → Blocked. If you delete your account, we delete both the people you have blocked and others’ blocks of you.

If you delete your account, we also delete reports others have sent about you. Reports you have sent about others we keep without your name, so the team can still see what happened.

You can change or remove your stars for a place for 14 days after the plan. They are deleted when you delete your account, when the plan is deleted, or if the place is removed from MAKEMEGO.

We keep suggestions until we have read and dealt with them, or until you delete your account.

A ticket alert is deleted when you turn it off, when the event is deleted, or when you delete your account.

A bill is deleted when the host deletes it, or when the plan is deleted. It can be changed for 30 days after the plan and can then only be read. If you delete your account, your share of others’ bills disappears, and bills you have split yourself disappear with your plans.

Your rights

  • Access and data portability: You download a copy of the information we have about you under Your profile → Download your data. You get a file in JSON, a common format other programs can read, and you decide where you save or send it.
  • Rectification: You correct your name and photo under Your profile.
  • Erasure: You delete your account under Your profile → Delete account. First we send a code to your e-mail, so we know it is you and not someone else with your phone.
  • Complaints: If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.dk).

Analytics and tracking

We use no analytics tools, advertising or tracking in the app. If that changes, we will ask you first and update this page.

We count how many times a place’s page is opened, and how many tap "Book a table", "Call" and "Directions" there, as one total per place per day. The numbers are stored without who, without your account and without your phone, so they cannot be traced back to you. The place and the MAKEMEGO team can see them.

On makemego.io

The website uses no cookies, analytics or ads, and it loads nothing from other sites. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address in order to show you the page.

If you join the waiting list, we store your e-mail, your language and when you signed up, because you said yes to it (GDPR article 6(1)(a)). It is kept with Supabase on servers in the EU. We write to you once, when you can download the app, and then we delete it. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us, and we delete it right away.
